Everything you need to know about RankHall
RankHall is a personal ranking app that helps you discover your true preferences for games, movies, and TV shows through head-to-head comparisons using a scientific Elo rating algorithm.
Instead of arbitrary "top 10" lists, RankHall uses pairwise comparisons where you choose between two items repeatedly. The Elo algorithm calculates accurate rankings based on your choices, revealing your true preferences over time.
Elo is a scientific rating system originally designed for chess. When you pick one item over another, the winner gains points and the loser loses points. The amount depends on the difference in their current ratings—upsets cause bigger changes than expected outcomes.
Sign up for a free account, select a category (games, movies, or TV shows), and start making comparisons! The more comparisons you make, the more accurate your rankings become.
Yes! You can rank games, movies, and TV shows separately. Each category maintains its own independent rankings.
You can start seeing rankings right away, but they become more accurate over time. The system uses a dynamic K-factor that adjusts based on your number of comparisons, giving more weight to early comparisons when uncertainty is high.
Items are grouped into tiers based on their Elo scores: S (2000+), A (1700-1999), B (1500-1699), C (1300-1499), D (1100-1299), and F (<1100). All items start at B tier (1500).
